The Progression of Active Isolated Stretching
Aaron Mattes, founder of Active Isolated Stretching
The Mattes Method holds a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. He has been practicing his unique clinical approach to stretching for 40 years and has dedicated his life to those with advanced conditions such as ALS (Lou Gerig’s Disease), stroke victims and spinal cord injuries to name a few bringing them hope and improving their quality of life.
This technique has been developed through thousands of hours of teaching, research and clinical application. It is taught in massage and physical therapy curriculums internationally as a modality for prevention and rehabilitation.
Bruce Baltz, founder of SpiriPhysical, studied with Aaron Mattes for the past 6 years, and had assisted him in his clinic and workshops throughout Florida.
Aaron supported Bruce with his desire to share Active Isolated Stretching with a broader audience and bring greater awareness to the power of his work.
Bruce then developed AIS; The Spa Method and broke it down into three 30 minutes routines; upper body and neck, lower body and hands and feet. All 3 routines were designed to be performed on a massage table in a supine or side line position which gives maximum comfort to your client and provides the benefits of a clinical modality.
We have found that whether you are a Spa therapist, or a clinical practitioner, AIS; The Spa Method, is well suited as a stand alone treatment or as an enhancement to your current massage practice.
